What should the University Library program for students?
Studies by, among others, the Trimbos Instituut show that loneliness among students has increased since covid. In addition, it is difficult for international students to connect with their Dutch fellow students.
Students need a sense of belonging.
Join our Exhibition:
Students present their field and themselves in a pop-up exhibition in the University Library. The creation of such an exhibition is carried out as an assignment within a working group and therefore provides the students with credits.
Not only does this method strengthen the bond between students themselves, but also the bond between the students and the University Library and between the library and the departments of the university. The students also tell something in the exhibition about their personal view on the course and how they experience studying at the university.
Visitors to the exhibition (other students) receive information about subjects unknown to them through the exhibition, and get to know the motives of other students. It creates a sense of belonging to the community that is the University of Amsterdam.
The student component
We advise the library to always think about the student component: programming for, but especially with students. Students can be excellent peer-educators. Students know best how to communicate with other students.
