Our goal is to combat isolation and loneliness at Science Park by creating a warm and welcoming environment. Through creating common spaces that are free, accessible, and comfortable, we will provide a sense of home to all residents of Science Park. By planning for events and activities, we can facilitate interactions between members of the community, thus encouraging friendships and connections.
Our Ideas
While we came up with nearly 50 ideas of how we can "placemake" Science Park, we had to narrow our choices down to those which were most original, those which would most fit our criteria, and those which were most feasible. Our top ideas included a "fun" laundromat where community members could sit and work, grab a coffee, and do their work while waiting for their laundry, as well as redecorating the lobbies of the Science Park residents, making them a place where students actually want to socialize.
